This schedule includes service to the new Larkspur station and weekend-only service to the Novato Downtown station. The temporary schedule will allow riders to take advantage of the new expanded train service for trips to and from the San Francisco Bay for commuting, holiday shopping and recreation.
The new Larkspur station will offer a vital connection to the Bay Area for commuters and visitors alike via the Golden Gate Ferry. The Larkspur station will also serve as a gateway for tourists wishing to visit Marin and Sonoma counties. SMART will be working with business leaders to attract visitors to travel by train for tourism and recreation to the beautiful North Bay.
SMART is getting you connected to the best of the Bay this holiday season! Starting on Saturday, December 14, SMART will launch a temporary service schedule that serves the new Novato Downtown and Larkspur stations. Click here to view the schedule.
These four days of fare-free service are a continuation of the free service the SMART Board of Directors approved in October 2019 to assist residents displaced during the Kincade Fire. The testing of the railway and crossings for the new Novato Downtown station during the weekend of November 8 and 9 resulted in the Board approving to roll some of the earlier fare-free days into this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The expanded schedule will go into effect on January 1, 2020, and is the product of months of planning and coordination with regional transit agencies to offer more efficient connections to the Larkspur ferry and bus service throughout Sonoma and Marin County. The schedule also features convenient transit links for passengers wishing to take the train to and from the Sonoma County Airport.
