Free Train Service Thanksgiving Day Through December 1.

Monday, November 25, 2019 - 2:20pm
Petaluma, CA— The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) District will offer fare-free train service beginning Thursday, November 28 through Sunday, December 1.

These four days of fare-free service are a continuation of the free service the SMART Board of Directors approved in October 2019 to assist residents displaced during the Kincade Fire.  The testing of the railway and crossings for the new Novato Downtown station during the weekend of November 8 and 9 resulted in the Board approving to roll some of the earlier fare-free days into this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

SMART will operate on its weekend/holiday schedule on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29, with the first southbound train departing from the Sonoma County Airport station at 10:13 a.m., and the last northbound train departing the San Rafael Station at 8:50 p.m.

SMART invites the community to leave the car behind and hop aboard a train this holiday weekend.  SMART has 10 stations serving Sonoma and Marin counties, with two new stations scheduled to open next month in Downtown Novato and Larkspur.   Ride SMART to visit various stops along the way where you can enjoy shopping, dining and other festive activities with family and friends.
