Simulated Service for the Larkspur Extension Begins November 17.

Thursday, November 14, 2019 - 4:35pm
SMART announced today that the commuter rail agency would begin simulated service to the new Larkspur station on Sunday, November 17.

SMART has completed 100% of all the required testing for the Larkspur extension, and the next step in preparing to open the Larkspur station for service is to demonstrate the operational functioning of the full system from Sonoma County Airport Station to the Larkspur Station, including confirming the timetable and completing the training of all of SMART’s crew members on the expanded territory.

During simulated service, southbound trains will drop off passengers at the San Rafael Station, and continue onto the Larkspur Station without passengers. Northbound trains returning from Larkspur will stop and pick up passengers at the San Rafael Station and continue onto the Sonoma County Airport Station. Simulated service will take place during normal service hours and will not occur overnight.
