Motorist Breaks Crossing Gate in Petaluma

Tuesday, October 10, 2017 - 9:30pm
At approximately 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, a vehicle went through the crossing gate at Corona Road in Petaluma and broke the gate, and left the scene. The approaching train used the emergency brake and proceeded through the intersection at slower speeds.

No injuries were reported and that train was taken out of service, which created delays. Maintenance crews have repaired the gate and service will resume on schedule Wednesday.

Please remember to be alert and aware at all crossings, and never drive through the intersection at railroad crossings unless you have room to make it safely through to the other side.
